Stimulus Presentation Software & E-Prime

We partner with Psychology Software Tools (PST), the makers of E-Prime to provide a turn-key solution with all the components needed by most ERP labs. This solution has been tested for enhanced reliability and millisecond accuracy with the Net Station data acquisition software. Our  records events along with High Density EEG data and we provide software and hardware tools to ensure you know exactly when a stimulus is presented. Events can be sent by TTL or as a network (TCP/IP) event if you want more robust information about the event including stimulus details, reaction time, accuracy of response and other details you might want to consider in your EEG analysis.

Our stimulus control system with E-Prime consists of:

• E-Prime license
• E-Prime Extensions for Net Station (EENS) license
• Windows computer (desktop micro PC or laptop)
• For desktop models: dual monitors for separate participant and experimenter display (1 or 2 room setup)
• Video switch to alternate between Net Station and E-Prime display on participant display
• Chronos response box

The combination of E-Prime and EENS allows the user to develop experiments using either its graphical user’s environment or its scripting language and then to run those experiments in conjunction with Net Station to create millisecond-precision ERP experiments using visual or auditory stimuli.

EGI also makes its ethernet-based Experiment Control Interface (ECI) available to users who wish to integrate with other experiment control systems like PsychoPy, PsychToolbox, and others.

Users who wish to use another experiment control package such as PsychToolBox may also wish to purchase our hardware package without E-Prime.  This option will confirm the stimulus presentation hardware is compatible with the user’s EEG system.

E-Prime can also be used to fire time or stimulus locked TMS pulses using the MagstimEGI Chronos adapter for TMS.
